My concern is what they'll be wanting in exchange--exclusive control, for
example; monopolies don't bode well for quality. Also, $20 month is a LOT
for many people; too much, in fact, as an "ultimate cost", which means it
is NOT for "everybody". That is, it starts out as "free" then support
networks "cost" which no one wants to pay for, and the "monopoly" then
imposes an "affordable" (they claim) maintenance cost, which then locks
out quite a lot of people...
Unadulterated kudos for google are, perhaps, a bit premature. It's not an
accident that huge telecommunications conglomerates are fighting cities
providing free access for residents. And the control of information and
access to it are also controls on freedom.
