I sent the following message to you yesterday.  But seeing the publicly
shared messages here, I was inspired to share ours with everyone.  Thank you
so much for organizing this and making this sharing of our congratulatory
messages possible for Dr. Cerf and Dr. Kahn.

Please give our best regards to Mr. Burak as well.  It was through his
influence and efforts that we first got to meet Dr. Cerf here in Chicago in
1998.

Hi Gene,

ISOC-Chicago is behind you to support efforts that honor this long overdue
honor for Dr. Cerf and Dr. Kahn.

These two gentlemen have not only contributed one of the greatest and most
practical inventions (TCP/IP) that has ever helped mankind, they are the
types of human beings that have continually unselfishly given their time,
participation, personal resources, and encouragement to colleagues and to
organizations representing the next generations who have aspired to try to
follow in their footsteps. In other words, they are great human beings and
role models for all of us.

Besides, Dr. Cerf personally lent a hand in the origins and formation of our
ISOC-Chicago chapter during his visit to DePaul University in Chicago during
October 1998.  So we are honored to be acquainted with Dr. Cerf, and to have
received e-mails from both he and Dr. Kahn.

Finally, for this great Turing Awards Event, we cannot be there in person,
but as one who is a member of both ISOC and the ACM, we send them every good
wish and congratulations for this long overdue, but highly prestigious
award.  We are there with you in spirit.

I am surprised and very pleased at the number of ISOC
chapters that have sent in messages of congratulations
for Vint Cerf and Bob Kahn.

We will be recording the Appreciation Evening for Vint
and Bob, and will make is available to all chapters
via streaming or CD in the next few days.

Congratulations messages received:

  Largest:  66 MB
  Smallest:  3 KB

As soon as possible I will make of list of chapters that
responded with messages for Vint and Bob, and will send
to the list.
