Vittorio,
I thanked you in a private message, but in the general forum, I'd say that
actually I was running under petition once - in 2005, and there's nothing
bad in that.

May I ask you exactly what you mean by that?
Which discussions do you have in mind? Why do you think that a discussion
within ISOC's chapters' list will damage the image of ISOC? You have seen
the discussion on the governance mailing list, where people who know ISOC
from the inside speak. Will you also ask them to stop speaking?
Vittorio, if we have a problem, we need to face it, not to hide it under
the carpet. Problems under the carpet happen to come at the most
inappropriate time, when we are not ready.
In a constructive discussion we will be able to define the problems, and
look together for a solution.
All people on this list are friends and colleagues. We all have the same
goal - to make sure the Internet is being developed in a free, open and
democratic way. We surely don't want to stop this discussion, do we?
best,
veni
