I fully agree with You, that if this new system will be introduced
despite the overhelming protest from the developing world, and the
prospect that many valuable people will leave ISOC we have to to
introduce new names for different levels. The name 'Associate member'
is simply insulting for people, who are for many years with whole
heart for ISOC and simply cannot afford $75. Isn't it better to
continue calling them just 'Members', and call those who are able to pay
with some nice sounding name, eg. supporting member?
And I strongly believe that there will be quite a substantial class of
devoted ISOC members, who although are financialy able to pay $75, but
they will deliberately not do it, just not to contribute to the divide
and to show their solidarity with members, whose only deficiency is
that they were born in less developed country.
