From charlessimon at voila.fr Fri Aug 13 00:43:55 2004 From: charlessimon at voila.fr ( Hi, I'm searching for the speeches Vint Cerf and Dave Clark gave at the 24th IETF meeting in July 1992. Wether audio or text doesn't matter. I try searching the web but, to the best of my knowledge, those speeches are not on IETF site as there is no transcript of any meeting prior to the 29th one. I try to google for the speeches but searching for Dave Clark produce too much noise as it's such a common name + the often quoted "rough consensus" thing doesn't help. I have no idea what was in Cerf's speech so I cannot narrow my research down (there is some hints in RFC 1640 but it doesn't help neither). If someone knows where to find those speeches, I'll be grateful. Thanks in advance, Charles ------------------------------------------ Faites un voeu et puis Voila ! www.voila.fr From braden at ISI.EDU Fri Aug 13 13:29:41 2004 From: braden at ISI.EDU (Bob Braden) Date: Fri, 13 Aug 2004 13:29:41 -0700 (PDT) Subject: [ih] Re: internet-history Digest, Vol 1, Issue 201 Message-ID: <200408132029.NAA06291@gra.isi.edu> *> Message: 1 *> Date: Fri, 13 Aug 2004 09:43:55 +0200 (CEST) *> From: "\" " *> Subject: [ih] 24th IETF meeting: speeches *> To: internet-history at postel.org *> Message-ID: <28309553.1092383035943.JavaMail.www at wwinf4003> *> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 *> *> *> Hi, *> *> I'm searching for the speeches Vint Cerf and Dave Clark gave at the 24th IETF meeting in July 1992. I just looked at them, and every IETFer should reread them today! Of course "rough consensus and running code" is what people remember because it is catchy and concise, but the similarities to current tensions and problems in the IETF are remarkable. btw you can find Clark's slides at http://ietf.org/proceedings/directory2.html, it takes a little digging through the massive .pdf from the 24th IETF, but they're in there. I also received a kind e-mail from Vint Cerf saying he didn't know where to find his speech but was aware of a video of it floating around somewhere with him doing his superman-thing with the "IP over everything" T-shirt. I guess I'll have to track that down. Anyway, I'm really grateful. Thanks again to all of you.
