Re-sharing the Call for Volunteers below:

Dear Chapter Delegates,

On behalf of the Chapters Advisory Council (ChAC), I am pleased to invite applications from Chapter officers interested in serving on one of two Internet Society Board of Trustees committees for the 2026–2027 election cycle:

  *
One (1) volunteer — Nominations Committee
  *
One (1) volunteer — Elections Committee

Chapters play an important role in the Board of Trustees election process, as stated in Article IV of the Internet Society Bylaws<https://www.internetsociety.org/about-internet-society/governance-policies/by-laws/>. Serving on one of these committees is a meaningful way to ensure the Chapters community is represented in the Internet Society's governance and future leadership.

Timeline

  *
21 August 2026 — Application deadline
  *
24 August – 1 September 2026 — ChAC Steering Committee reviews applications
  *
2 September 2026 — Recommended volunteers submitted to committee chairs

General Eligibility (applies to both committees)

Applicants must:

• Be familiar with the Internet Society and the Chapters community
• Be listed as a Chapter officer in the Community Portal (AMS)
• Not serve on both committees during the same election cycle
• Not be a nominee for the Board of Trustees during the cycle in which they serve
• Be able to comply with the Internet Society's Conflict of Interest Policy<https://www.internetsociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ISOC-Conflict-of-Interest-Policy-for-Trustees-Board-Designated-Officers-As-amended-17-May-2021.pdf> and complete the required Disclosure Form
• Be fluent in written and spoken English

Previous experience on a nominations or elections committee is an advantage. Volunteers who add to the diversity of the committees are especially encouraged to apply.

Nominations Committee:

Identifies qualified candidates for election to the Board of Trustees (see Nominations Committee Charter<https://www.internetsociety.org/board-of-trustees/committees/charters/nominations-committee-charter/>).

  * Time commitment: November – late December 2026 (reviews and discussions) and January 2027 (candidate interviews, up to 15 candidates). Please do not apply if your availability during this period is limited.

Elections Committee:

Establishes the election schedule and oversees the annual election process (see Elections Committee Charter<https://www.internetsociety.org/board-of-trustees/committees/charters/elections/>).

  * Time commitment: One or two calls in February–March 2027, plus email correspondence with the committee chair through April 2027.

Selection Process: Following the deadline, a Selection Committee of ChAC Steering Committee members will review all applications through an open and transparent process and recommend one volunteer per committee.

How to Apply: → Review the relevant committee details above, then complete the application form by 21 August 2026, indicating which committee you are applying for:

I encourage all interested Chapter officers to apply and help ensure our community is well represented in this important process. Thank you for your continued commitment to the Internet Society and the Chapters community.

Kind regards,

Flávio R. Wagner

ChAC Steering Committee Chair
