Re Facebook Live Video Retention

Dear colleagues,

I hope that you’re all well.

My name is Al and I’m the new (and first) Director of Community Communications. I joined ISOC Foundation towards the end of last year and looking forward to meeting and working with you going forward.

Thank you for bringing the Facebook Live Video Retention matter to our attention. A few of you have discussed this with some of our colleagues over the past 48 hours and we felt that it might be helpful to share this very brief and simple guide <https://isoc.box.com/s/7e945rhbnp5oe9dubxnee5ql4h8uz1rp> on how to retain your Facebook Live Videos.

While this is a short and very simple guide, we hope that it’s useful to some of you.

With very best wishes,
Al

Subject: [Chapter-delegates] Fw: Facebook's Video Storage policy is changing: download your old live videos
Hello all,

I just received the below email, and felt it prudent to share the info given what it means (especially for smaller chapters).

For all those chapters that are storing their live streams on Facebook, you need to start downloading them and finding an alternate solution to long-term archival of these videos. Facebook will start deleting any remaining videos from 9 June, so three months from now (however I would not wait and I'd start now) as they are no longer keeping them beyond 30 days.

Regards,
Christopher Hawker

Download your old Facebook Live videos by 9 June.

We are sending you this email because you have previously broadcasted a Facebook Live video.

Changes are being rolled out by Facebook to its storage policy for Facebook live videos. Starting on 19 February, Facebook live videos will be retained for 30 days by default on your Facebook Page or profile, during which, you can replay, delete or download the video. After 30 days, you will no longer be able to access your live broadcasts and they will automatically be removed from your profile or Page and deleted from our servers.

As part of this transition, we will be deleting all Facebook live videos older than 30 days and we want to make sure that you have the opportunity to save your past Facebook live videos. Any existing live videos published before 19 February will be deleted from your Page or profile, but you can download them until 9 June. Click here<https://www.facebook.com/business/help/216491699144904?id=1123223941353904> for more information on our download options.
