Dear Colleagues,
A friendly reminder of the below opportunity:
The Chapters Advisory Council (ChAC) has been requested to identify one (1) volunteer to serve on the ISOC Nominations Committee AND one (1) volunteer to serve on the ISOC Elections Committee for the 2025-2026 nominations and elections cycle.
The Nominations Committee will produce the slate of candidates for election to the ISOC Board of Trustees in 2026. The Elections Committee will oversee the 2026 elections process.
The work of both committees is described in their Charters<https://www.internetsociety.org/board-of-trustees/committees/> and in the Procedures for Selecting Trustees<https://www.internetsociety.org/about-internet-society/governance-policies/procedures-selecting-trustees/>.
Why Should You Volunteer?
=======================
While Trustees serve in the interest of the Internet Society as a whole once appointed to the Board, the Chapters are mandated, as per Article IV of the ISOC Bylaws<https://www.internetsociety.org/about-internet-society/governance-policies/by-laws/>, to elect Trustees: "Chapters shall have the right to elect Trustees as provided in Article II, Section 1" and it is important that the Chapters exercise their right to ensure that suitable candidates are slated for election. Being part of these committees requires a commitment but will enable the volunteers to gain valuable experience on high-level Board committees while ensuring that the Chapters are represented in the election process.
Timeline
=======
• 22 August 2025: Deadline for applications
• 25-29 August 2025: ChAC SC Selection Committee reviews applications received
• Monday, 01 September 2025: The ChAC SC Selection Committee submits the recommended volunteers' names, brief bios, and contact information to the ISOC Elections and Nominations Committee Chairs.
Process and Qualifications for Both Positions
=====================================
* The volunteer shall be selected in an open and transparent process defined by the Chapters Advisory Council and shared with the Chapters community.
* The volunteer shall be familiar with the Internet Society as a whole and with the Chapters community.
* The same volunteer shall not be permitted to serve on both committees.
* The volunteer shall not be permitted to serve as a nominee for Trustee during the election cycle in which they serve.
* The volunteer will be required to comply with ISOC’s Conflict of Interest Policy<https://www.internetsociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/ISOC-Conflict-of-Interest-Policy-for-Trustees-Board-Designated-Officers-As-amended-17-May-2021.pdf> for Trustees and Board Designated Officers, and to complete and return a copy of the related Disclosure Form.
* Volunteers who will add to the diversity of both committees is especially desirable.
The deadline for all applications is 22 August 2025. See application instructions below:
Time Commitment and Volunteer Requirements for Nominations Committee

The Nominations Committee (NomCom) identifies a slate of qualified candidates for consideration and potential election to the Board. The NomCom Committee Charter can be found here: https://www.internetsociety.org/board-of-trustees/committees/charters/nominations-committee-charter/
Volunteer Requirements for Nominations Committee (NomCom):

Volunteer Selection Process
=======================
The Board requires that the volunteers be selected in an open and transparent process defined by the ChAC. The ChAC SC therefore uses a simple call for volunteers.
A selection committee made up of ChAC SC members will select the volunteers based on the criteria outlined above.

Chair of the ChAC Steering Committee
