Christopher,

  * Short answer: my mail client alerts me - for a reason. (ISOC is the *Internet* Society and should - at least have the skills - to send Emails that don't make people - or mail clients - feel uneasy.)
  * Longer answer: the discussion following the mail "Join the Fight Against Spam!" 9/11/13. E.g. https://ict-media.de/2013/09/join-the-fight-against-spam/ .

Last not least: I fibbed - sorry. The truth is:  I knew it was from ISOC - because ISOC sends this kind of mails - as mentioned - for years. (To commit services to salesforce was not required for this - though it definitely made things worse.)
