[Chapter-delegates] Japan Internet Week superstars -- let's hear it for our JP Chapter

Happy Friday all,

We are the ISOC community’s biggest fans, and this week gives us another reason to celebrate our everyday heroes!

Our Japan Chapter was front and center at Internet Week in Tokyo, holding a Birds of Feather session about the wonderful ways by which different communities help build the Internet!

Internet Week is one of the biggest multistakeholder gatherings in Japan. Like all chapters, our JP Chapter leaders wear many hats, and throughout the week, they were leading sessions, speaking up from the floor, sharing expert advice and, as long-time supporters of this decades-old event, helping to make sure that everything ran smoothly behind the scenes.

The ISOC spirit was burning bright — even at times when we were not waving the ISOC flag

What was especially moving was the camaraderie between our young and young-at-heart chapter leaders — the JP Chapter is famous (or should be famous) for attracting young talent! Mariko Kobayashi, who joined the ISOC community as a brilliant young student, now leads the chapter while also pursuing a promising career in the technical and research space. (A few chapter leaders brought their children, who we can only assume are chapter leaders in training :))

With both emerging and prominent Internet experts at the helm, we can’t wait to see what the JP Chapter will be up to next!
