Dear Fellow Chapter Delegates,
It’s my pleasure to share information with you all on the Internet
Society’s end-of-year giving campaign, Together we can build an Internet
for everyone <https://donate.internetsociety.org/internet-for-everyone/>.
As a member of the Fundraising Working Group within the Board of Trustees,
I’ve witnessed the efforts that ISOC's staff and board have put into
expanding our fundraising initiatives, and making sure that at the same
time the resources will be best applied to help the communities we serve.
Reflecting on my time with many of you at ICANN81 last week, especially for
those whom I met with in the networking event there, I am feeling
especially excited about our collaboration this year — across the board,
ISOC and Foundation staff, and our Chapter and Group members — that clearly
demonstrates our shared commitment to supporting one another in realizing
our vision of an Internet for everyone. And we all know we have important,
ambitious, and exciting work ahead as we move forward together in our
Strategy 2030.
In recognition of our shared commitment and the important work ahead, I
invite you to consider making a donation to our end-of-year campaign
<https://donorportal.internetsociety.org/-/XAQFMPST>. If you’ve been
thinking about donating to ISOC this year but haven’t yet, now is the
perfect time. Thanks to the generosity of Internet Society Founding
President Vint Cerf, your impact can be doubled — *Vint has pledged to
match the first $20,000 in donations received before year-end!* You also
have the opportunity to dedicate your donation in honor of a person,
organization, or event of your choice.
As Vint recently put it, *“Some time ago, I wrote that the **Internet is
for Everyone* <https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc3271.html>* and concluded
that it will not be for everyone until everyone has access sufficient to
their needs, affordably, reliably and availably. The Internet Society can
advocate as in the Internet Governance Forum and it can support other
actions to achieve these objectives. Working with organizations like PIR,
NSRC and others to facilitate implementation, the Internet Society has the
potential to stimulate the action needed. Your support is a critical part
of the current road forward.”*
This campaign is about more than just donations — it’s a chance to honor
our shared commitment and grow a community of supporters for the future.
Beyond giving, we can each play a vital role in this by sharing the
campaign within our networks and inspiring others to take action! If you’d
like a template for social media posts or would like to talk about ideas
for spreading the word further, please contact Isadora Tharin
<tharin at isocfoundation.org> for assistance.
