Dear Colleagues,
We’re in between our first two regional Community Days (#ISOCDay):
Asia-Pacific Community Day on 16 May:
===============================
The first edition, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region, took place last week on 16 May and gathered 205 attendees from 50 different countries.
The recordings can be accessed here<https://events.zoom.us/ev/AjZJayJGtrvGF7UcrszCbADVT4aBmi8ikATi81uMBHkiHYPBhDyN~AgSrMjJy6XcB3FQKOu_nXXQ3_qqPY4IepSWuWRsDA9_iPGJ2Npz9RFUDuw>.
A big thank you goes to all the community speakers who shared their inspiring stories that allowed us to:
* Learn about the creative community-based, solutions Indonesians have found to their country's specific Internet resilience challenges.
* Hear a success story about connecting the unconnected in a remote village in Kyrgyzstan and the additional developments (solar electricity and roads) the initiative put into motion.
* Review ideas for overcoming the unique obstacles encountered by landlocked countries, mountainous regions, remote islands, and areas prone to natural disasters or surrounded by countries subject to international sanctions.
* Discuss the reasons why successful models from other regions need to be tailored to the local context of each community in which they are applied.
* Look at ways that the global Internet Society community can further support and bring greater Internet resilience to the Asia-Pacific region.

Next edition: Africa and the Middle East Community Day on 6 June:
======================================================
Join us on 6 June at 13:00 UTC: Register here<https://events.zoom.us/ev/An7RAvyTkgruxpsywKXDBOzBTt9G7145xB9JHakzAxxrMuTaI7hw~Ah6fjuRacsLuPu4ybKilgdJfWlBK2DAWEDrjcYeyhQzuoh1z6ki4bk31Sw> if you haven’t done so yet and encourage your members to join too!
We look forward to seeing you there to discuss solutions to this region's challenges and opportunities to protect the Internet, minimize the digital divide, and improve Internet resilience.
With this edition too, there will be an opportunity for you all to meet the Internet Society’s Board of Trustees for a discussion around the Internet Society’s 2030 Strategy.
In the meantime, please help us shine a light on how the Internet Society community in Africa and the Middle East protects the Internet by using the #MyRegionConnects hashtag.
#MyRegionConnects isn't just a hashtag, it's a celebration of our connected community!
Best,
Christine
