[Chapter-delegates] ISOC LIVE - the reports of its death are exaggerated, but..

Dear Andrew,

The decision to terminate the services might have been made by staff, but
the BoT was at least informed beforehand as you have mentioned in another
message. Either you as CEO could have taken a stand, asserted your powers
and have done "the right thing", or the BoT could have made helpful
suggestions, if not intervene directly. Neither of that happened; By this
action related to the live telecast contract, the Internet Society might
have saved a thousand dollars or two per month. This pales in comparison
to the relatively huge expenditure items, perhaps in millions, some of
which are incurred every year, incurred in a possibly flawed pattern of
possibly unnecessary expenditure and/ or suboptimally placed contracts. I
have NOT read the Internet Society balance sheet, nor have any information
about the exact expenditure items, nor about the quantum of contract
payments made, or the size of staff salaries, but I do understand and
verified by a quick look at the published financial statement that the
"total functional expenses" for 2022 was $48 million. Was every penny of
this 48 million spent optimally, in a manner that you would have approved,
if you were "running the universe"?
