+1 Jules. There is also the question of what purposes/usages Messaging apps are 
good for.

For a quick poll as to which flavors of pizza to order for the meeting, 
Messaging apps are a good fit. For actually discussing anything substantive, 
likely not. Thus, while "this (face-to-face or Zoom) meeting could have been an 
email" scans, "this meeting could have been a WhatsApp (or FB Mess) chat" does 
not, not usually. :)

Also, looking at all the criticism leveled against social media posts for 
misinformation, i suspect that short-form comms such as memes, captions, *and* 
messaging chats are as much to blame for our 21st century dys-information.

Besides, i like threaded emails ... i routinely save some to disk to serve as 
*evidence* ... errr, i mean -- documentation. :)
