A. Proposed name of the Chapter
Internet Society India Bengaluru Chapter, abbreviated ISOC Bengaluru.
B. Community of Interest the Chapter will serve
Bengaluru Urban, Rural and where possible the larger area of the State of Karnataka, India.
C. Purpose and scope of Chapter
The Internet has a transformative impact on our lives and as a group of technology enthusiasts, we want to support the vision and mission of the Internet Society and volunteer for a better Internet.
In specific, we want to -
Strengthening the Internet through dialog (networking events), awareness (education) and developing tools to support this objective.
Plan and execute activities on net neutrality and ethical practices in using Internet.
* Deliver digital safety and privacy education as well as ongoing support for various demographic groups in using the Internet and related technologies.
* To have focused activities on Internet economy among the growing users of the Internet such as creating awareness about the benefits of digital marketing for local communities.
Grow the Internet by advocating for and building community networks (community program) while partnering with other relevant organization.
* Creation of community networks which provide privacy centric, secure access to the internet.
* To leverage the digital technologies with special reference to loT for training the youth and generate employment opportunities in the fields of Agriculture, Healthcare, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry etc.
* To collaborate with (local) Government Departments, Agencies and the Trade and Industry bodies and plan activities in their partnership.
The Chapter will serve both the interests of the Internet Society as well as the interests of a local community through a local presence, focus on local issues and developments, and use of local Kannada, Hindi and English languages.
D. Outline of key priorities for the first year of Chapter
Establish A Community
The general priority for the first year is to onboard 100 regional members and utilize the member ecosystem to understand existing challenges and start to work on solutions through regular community events. Furthermore, we will use the newly created community to share updates on the work of the Internet Society and encourage contributions to SIGs and other forums.
Strengthening the Internet
Deliver at least 4 events around digital safety and privacy education and establish
ongoing support model for various demographic groups in using the Internet and related technologies.
Grow the Internet
Evaluate opportunities to collaborate with (local) Government Departments, Agencies and the Trade and Industry bodies and plan activities in their partnership. Identify requirements for the creation of community networks which provide privacy centric, secure access to the internet. Subsequently develop a plan to address the requirements.
All activities will be managed through creation of working groups within the Chapter.

G. Membership
We will carry out regular local meetups for all the members to share updates on the work of the Internet Society, encourage dialog on relevant topics and conduct sessions in alignment with the Chapter’s priorities.
In alignment with the Internet Society membership models, there will be Individual Members, Organizational Members and Partners.
Will follow practices adopted by other Chapters in India. The Chapter will be registered as part of the The Societies Registration Act, 1860 – in specific The Karnataka Society Registration Act 1960 as the Chapter will operate out of Karnataka. This is in line with the practices followed by other societies such as the IEEE India Council (https://ieeeindiacouncil.org/about-ieee/registration/).
H. List of requirements
