Dear Hana and All,
I, representing the Ethiopian ISOC Chapter, support the formation of a new
chapter as it is going to strengthen the society at large and broaden its
impacts. However, as long as the following concerns are addressed I FULLY
SUPPORT THE FORMATION OF THE LIBYAN ISOC CHAPTER:
1) In section B, second paragraph the phrase "*While there are different
groups working in those areas*" needs specificity. It would be good to list
the major players (not all but the major ones). Here, the point is to avoid
conflict of interest. We need to know them clearly.
2) In section C, subsection 2 under the purpose of the chapter, it would be
good to include the key pillars of ISOC like availability, affordability
and multistakeholder participation in its development and overall
discourse.
3) In section C, subsection 3, it would be good to add the following
highlighted phrase:
"*The Chapter shall be established as an independent, not-for-profit and
non-governmental organization under the laws of the State of Libya and
recommendations of ISOC."*
4) The first statement in section I states who initiates this new chapter
formation has no problem in the outset. However, due to the existence of
http://www.isoc.ly/, I'm afraid that it may create some conflicts. Hence, I
would like to propose to formally communicate http://www.isoc.ly/ about the
new chapter formation. They may not be formally related to ISOC but have
overlapping interests. It is always better to start humbly and consistently
work collaboratively.
Regards,
Asrat
