Hi,
Dear Gunela Astbrink,
Thank you for sharing the news about the Board of Trustees' recent resolution on accessibility for persons with disabilities. As a fellow board member, I commend the Board for this significant step towards creating a more inclusive environment within ISOC.
Dear Anna Amoomo
While this resolution is focused more on making the Internet Society accessible for people with disabilities, and the staff will be working to implement this resolution with Board’s oversight to make ISOC accessible and adopt a culture of accessibility, there is much that we can do. As chapter members and leaders, we should all work towards supporting the Board's resolution and making sure that our local chapters follow these guidelines. We can start by making our websites WCAG AA compliant, promoting accessibility in our events and meetings, creating accessible content, and providing support to individuals with disabilities.
Once again, thanks for your contribution in the discussion, and I look forward to working together to make ISOC more inclusive and accessible for all.
Best regards,
Dr. Muhammad Shabbir.

This is a very good step from the BoT. I must commend them for this resolution. Where do we go from here? As Chapter members as well as chapter leaders.

On 2nd April, the Board of Trustees unanimously passed a set of
resolutions on accessibility for persons with disabilities:
https://a11ysig.org/misc/2023-04-02_ISOC_BoT_Accessibility_Resolutions_2023-08.pdf
The first resolution states: RESOLVED, that the board fully supports the
President and CEO in taking further steps to build a culture
of accessibility within ISOC and work toward eliminating barriers to
participation and engagement with ISOC’s content, events, services,
processes, and practices for persons with disabilities;
This is followed by three more specific resolutions.
The Accessibility Standing Group congratulates the Board of Trustees in
making these landmark resolutions that will be greatly benefit persons
with disabilities and that will underpin ISOC's vision of The Internet
is for Everyone.
While this was a joint decision by the Board of Trustees, we especially
wish to show our sincere appreciation to Dr Muhammad Shabbir who
initiated this important milestone and who is currently standing for
re-election.
