HI Vint and others,
John was extremely passionate on accessibility issues, whether it be access to
the unconnected or whether it be that the internet should be available and
accessible to all, including persons with disabilities. He was very active with
the Accessibility Special Interest Group, and we will miss his wise council and
sage advice. Even over a month after his passing, I am still in shock about his
passing.
John was such a dear friend of mine for so many years, and am at a real loss of
not being able to see him or speak to him. John was so passionate about internet
governance, connectivity, and accessibility issues. We also had so many good
conversations on Roman history, as I had done my undergraduate Thesis on the
issue, and so we had many long conversations on this and so many other issues.
John was so very helpful on all questions regarding bylaws for any organization,
especially those involving internet access, connectivity or internet
governance. He helped write the bylaws for many ISOC chapters and also for many
ICANN ALSes and was also involved in NPOC. It was only in August that John was
working with us in NARALO to complete the bylaw revision
I last spoke to John in early September before heading out to ICANN Singapore.
But it was only a very short conversation and now wishing for more, He was also
instrumental in helping us with the Accessibility SIG and the Accessibility
standing group. We first met back in the late 1990s or early 2000 when we were
founding ISOC DC. Have so many great memories, and he had such a great impact
and support for me in various issues and other life struggles, so will miss our
chats and talks. I am still in shock that I will never see him again.
The family has put up a site on Dignity Memorial with a place for putting notes
about John, here is a link,

Perhaps I will see some of you on Saturday at the Memorial
Best,
Judith
