*Dear Chapter-Delegates,*
In the past few months, I had accepted the challenge to man the ship as a
member of the Chapter Advisory Council Steering Committee. Such a challenge
comes in no small measure.
Africa (and indeed the world) suffers setbacks on Internet Shutdowns, low
bandwidth, digital rights, etc. I have been fortunate to
collaborate across borders ( an historic first in ISOC within the
continent) with Chapter leaders in Africa and am looking forward to having
the same commitment across continents.
I have been resident in a rural area, promoting synergies and projects to
bring the internet and capacity to the communities. I believe that the
citizens within a community can change the country's direction in the area
of service to humanity...one community at a time.
My record of service:
- Co-pioneered the formation of the .ng ccTLD Registry, Nigeria Internet
Registration Association (NiRA).
- Served as Pioneer Trustee
<https://nira.org.ng/nira-pioneer-board-of-trustees/>, Director
<https://nira.org.ng/nira-4th-executive-board/>, Executive Secretary/Acting COO
<https://us4.campaign-archive.com/?u=ca39e5a06e8471276f85fd3a1&id=fe435128c9>of
NiRA and its Registry.
- Serving as a Trustee <https://www.linkedin.com/in/akinbo/>, Africa ICT
Foundation.
- Serving in ICANN <https://icannwiki.org/Adebunmi_Adeola_Akinbo> on
Working Groups related to Social Media.
- Serving the African community through DNS Africa <https://dnsafrica.org/>
Media and Communications.
- Pioneered the Nigerian Youth Internet Governance Forum (ngYIGF
<http://www.diplointernetgovernance.org/m/profile?screenName=3lghyhbfk8hxc>
).
- Redesigned the logo of the Youth Coalition on Internet Governance Forum (
YCIG
<https://www.intgovforum.org/multilingual/content/youth-coalition-on-internet-governance-ycig>
).
- Serving as the Secretary-General of ISOC Nigeria Chapter.
...to mention a few.
With a team of dedicated individuals, we manage a series of networks and
platforms to coordinate and collaborate on community networks, digital
literacy, digital rights, media advocacy across internet obstacles and
challenges, etc, using platforms such as Community NetHUBs Africa, Culture
Games Africa, TechDevGro, SuccessBridge, and KOBOKINGs Limited. With other
African Partners, the sky has always been a starting point.
I am a digital disruptive expert, brand specialist, graphics and content
expert, administrator extraordinaire, project management consultant, and a
culture ambassador. A human rights and climate activists, a Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) Advocate *a willing learner*.
With your vote, an opportunity to state your voice to the global village is
always assured. I accepted nomination and confirmed my service to stand
with chapters, to build, promote and defend the internet. I have come, like
you, to add value to the internet Society and of course the global village.
I strongly believe that we can stand t*ogether* to *extend the Internet’s
reach and protect its long-term well-being*.
No matter your time difference, language or passion, I look forward to
working with you, no matter your decision. But, your *endorsements *and *votes
*will go a long way to *serving the chapter's*.
Thanks for your trust and audience.
*Adebunmi Akinbo*
Member, Internet Society.
