Hello everyone,
Happy to read all those excellent news, with interplanetary Chapter, Qatar, work on Digital Sovereignty, Open Forums on Board Diversity, and more. Great! About Board Diversity, I’m very happy to announce the freshly elected Board for Belgium 2022-2025, with unanimity of votes.
New Board Members:
Afroditi Deilogkou, an enthousiastic Social Psychologist we met thanks to Internet Society’s International Youth Ambassador Program;
Nadia Tjahja, a PhD Researcher in the Research Centre for Digitalisation, Democracy and Innovation at the Brussels School of Governance, and coordinator of youth activities at the European Dialogue on Internet Governance (EuroDIG).
Re-elected Board Members:
Frederic Taes, President;
Frans Gerbosh, Treasurer;
Eric Tomson, Secretary;
Johannes Schnack.
As reminder, our DPO (Data Protection Officer) is and remains Jérôme de Meeûs d’Argenteuil.
With the rejuvenation process, we started focusing on creating awareness, education, and projects, as organizing events being difficult in Covid times. We’ll launch big marketing campaigns, notably around our www.istrust.org community project, open to all chapters of the world.
Inspired by our win to influence a new project of law targeting encryption, our new strategic priority for 2022-2025 is to become the only non-profit organization - group of experts - that parliaments and governmental bodies absolutely need to involve for any new regulation or question linked to the Internet.
With the new Board and DPO, we have now an amazing team with complimentary profiles to lead this ambitious program, and we know we can count on support from global ISOC organization to achieve this, so we are all very excited!
I wish a good success to the “Protecting the Internet” event today; our chapter will be present, not myself unfortunately given healthy issues (hard to join from hospital), but I’m expecting to be fully recovered pretty soon, including for my function of ChAC-SC, to reinforce collaboration between chapters and ISOC Board.
Best Regards,
Frederic.
