Let us look into your specific cases and get back to you. 

Just a few points in the meantime: 

Yes, you should be able to use your Member/Chapter Portal (AMS) password for Connect at connect.internetsociety.org too. 

By default, the Chapter Leaders community and other Chapter/SIG/Standing Group communities on Connect are set to "Real Time” notifications, which means that all members get email notifications as they are posted. Currently, more than 90% of the members of the Chapter Leaders list have set their notifications to “Real Time”.

Members can change their notification settings at any time from their Connect account (connect.internetsociety.org > My Profile > My Account > Community Notifications) to the other settings that are "Daily Digest", "No Email", "Consolidated Daily Digest", and "Consolidated Weekly Digest”.
