Globally, inflation is much lower than that. PIR and the investors
are in the US, where this year's annual inflation rate is 1.8%. My
guess is that the majority of .org regsistrants are in North America
and Europe, where inflation is about 1%, but it is of course hard to
tell.
For parked domains, when I looked for .org name servers with PARK in the name
I found over 200,000 domains so I would guess that the total parked is in
the 500K range, maybe more. No wonder the domain speculators fired up that
astroturf campaign about the price caps.
