Imran was one of the founding members of the Internet Society Pakistan Islamabad Chapter and had a diverse portfolio with I* organizations. He was the founder of Urdu Internet Society and also worked extensively on IDNs and local content. Imran actively participated in the national, regional and global Internet Governance events, most recently at the IGF 2019 in Berlin, Germany. His family has informed that Imran was in good health but died suddenly due to brain hemorrhage at the age of just 50. He is survived by a wife, 15 year old daughter and 11 year old son.
