Dear Sagarika,

The events that your colleague Maheeshwara shared a few days ago about the
situation in Sri Lanka is really alarming.

The arbitrary and unilateral way in which the government authorities of Sri
Lanka are handling this issue, restricting access to the Internet in
different ways, without having installed a space for dialogue and
reflection with the multiple stakeholders, not only is attentive to the
fundamental principle that we all share and defend with respect to net
neutrality, but this practice also restricts fundamental rights, such as
freedom of expression. It is sad to know that they are also affecting
important services that support academic and research activities, as well
as e-commerce activities, which will undoubtedly cause significant economic
losses.

In our region we have also seen similar situations, and we shall remain
united to face them with all available means.

>From ISOC Chapter Bolivia, receive our solidarity, which I am sure is
shared by the other members of our LAC region and also by all the chapters
of the world.

Keep the strength, and count on our support in any initiative in which we
can collaborate.

Regards,

Roberto Zambrana
