Dear Alexander
The ISOC Brazil Chapter fully supports the request for funding of the
chapter toolkit project, as the tools the project is making available
are extremely valuable for chapters to build and expand their services
and communication channels.
Best regards,
Flavio R. Wagner
President, ISOC Brazil
> Hello all,
>
> The chapter toolkit project has been working on bringing the online
> presence of chapters in line with ISOCs principles of being open,
> globally connected and secure for over a year and you probably have
> seen our posts a couple of times updating you with the latest
> developments. This is where we are now:
>
> 1. The website template and free hosting facility is in use by 17
> chapters, the latest additions being ISOC.fr (France) switching to
> our template and ISOC.td (Chad) switching to both our hosting and
> template. Send a mail to voorzitter(at)isoc.nl <http://isoc.nl> if
> your chapter would like to participate!
> 2. The video conferencing tool is live and in use since 2017/12/5.
> Please go ahead and try it out at
> https://webrtc.sipthor.net/conference/isoc, we use it for every
> online meeting with ISOCNL
> 3. The toolkit recently posted its first tool, secure hosted
> emailboxes that strive to be 100% compliant with modern email
> standards such as DKIM, SPF, DMARC, StartTLS (with TLS 1.2), POP3,
> IMAPS and more.
>
>
> These are our plans for the upcoming year:
>
> 1. The template wants to spend 5,250 USD on hosting and support for
> participating chapters, and on adding extra features to the
> template from the toolkit project.
> 2. The video conferencing tool wants use 7,500 USD to build an IOS
> and Android app for the tool as well as adding audio only
> conferences, and the ability to add or remove video during a
> conference.
> 3. The toolkit wants to spend 9,000 USD on adding 10 existing open
> source projects to its NIX package. They will then be available as
> free cloud services either as password protected tools for the
> chapter boards, or as extensions for chapter websites.
>
> Currently we are therefore asking the Chapter Advisory Council to
> support our request for funding for a total of 21,750 USD (see our
> presentation with more details at
> https://internetsociety.info/docs/201806-Chapter_Toolkit_Project_CHAC.pdf
> <https://internetsociety.info/docs/201806-Chapter_Toolkit_Project_CHAC.pdf>).
> To strengthen our case, we could really use some help from all of you.
> This is what we need:
>
> */Reply to this email, and state that on behalf of your chapter you
> */wish the project to continue/* and support our request for funding./*
>
> We will then forward your message to the Chapter Advisory Council.
> With enough chapters supporting, we think we have a very good chance
> of convincing the Council.
>
> Thank you!!!
>
> Met vriendelijke groet,
> Kind regards
