[Chapter-delegates] My thanks and an expression of excitement

Dear friends and colleagues,

I want to express my gratitude for the many expressions of congratulations and support, and the kind words, that I have received since the notice went out about my appointment as the next ISOC CEO.  I will certainly have a job to do to live up to the example Kathy Brown has set. I look forward to successful and productive collaboration with all of you as we take ISOC forward.

To me, the Chapters are a central part of ISOC's success.  Just as the Internet is a network of networks, each independent and yet all interdependent if all are to receive the Internet's benefits, so we can be seen as a society of societies, each responsive to its particular conditions but all working together for our common goal: the Internet for everyone.

I do not take up my new position until September, and indeed I still have work to do for my current employer, but (as you can see) I now have a login to the ISOC systems and can be reached this way.  I am excited for the challenges of my new position, and I look forward to hearing from you about the issues affecting us all.
