You are right, that’s the issue …
In my opinion, the success of Za and KE came from a high level support from the governments and a strong internet ecosystem, this is not the case in most African countries where the community and the politics have a narrow view of the benefits of national extensions.
one of the issue is the lack of registrars and hosting infra (data centers) at local level which is not the case in very few countries in Africa.
We try to work on these levers in AfTLD to support emerging DNS business within the continent and need support of all stakeholders.
