- No, because a meeting in Chicago wouldn't even be on our radar for all 
the reasons you've outlined above!

If, for example, the IETF was taking place in San Francisco or San Jose 
or even L.A, we would still be unable to cover the registration fee, 
missing out on a crucial opportunity to send a representative to a 
meeting on 'home turf'.

- All ideas are welcome (for all industry events, not just the IETF).
