Chapter delegates,

Many thanks for all the feedback! Rather than fill up your inboxes with 9 responses to individual messages, I've consolidated the key points into this message and will reply below with "DY>" inline.

Also, I'd encourage you to leave feedback about the beta site on Github as that is more easily seen by our developers and others who are not subscribed to this chapter-delegates list. The URL there is (an account at Github is needed, but they are free):

https://github.com/InternetSociety/beta-site-feedback/issues

You can, of course, continue to send me email, but leaving the comments about the beta site over on Github will be seen by more of the team involved with the redesign.

FYI, we plan to regularly push updates to the beta site during the next few months, most likely every 2 weeks or so. If there are any major updates affecting chapter information - or when we reach the stages where we are looking for additional testing - I'll let you know here.

Thank you also for the feedback about our separate AMS system. Todd Tolbert has replied back today on those points.

On to my responses...

As far as the current site goes, it would be helpful to have social media share links on blog posts and other items.

DY> Joly, yes, that is something missing from our current site. The new site will have those on blog posts, resources, etc. That's not in the beta site yet, but will be coming. (A challenge, of course, is that we don't actually want people to *use* the sharing links on the beta site to share resources off of the beta site. But the sharing links will definitely be there before we move the beta site into production.)

P.S. <snip> it would help if ISOC's communications were more social media friendly. To be fair, many of the articles and blogs now have a graphic or photo, so that a share on social media doesn't just display the logo or a thumbnail pic of the author. But, sometimes i still have to reformat before sharing an article from ISOC's official FB page, so it doesn't look too plain and boring (even if the actual content or copy is very well-written and interesting.)

DY> Winthrop, yes, this is definitely an issue with the current site. The new site will be different. Our goal is to make sure that all our content can be easily shared - and for it to look good in social media when shared. You should just be able to drop the URL into a social network and have it appear appropriately for that platform.

Thanks Dan for giving us insights of what to expect.

DY> You're welcome, Nadira.

Having the content in the most spoken languages was problem in the current website and I could see it is going to be the same for the new website.

DY> Yes, the current website is quite honestly an embarrassment with regard to language support. We are NOT going to have the new site be the same way. We are taking some steps to work differently with the new site.

DY> I will have a blog post out in the next day or two outlining what we are doing differently and how we will be growing the support of languages over time.

Now we have the Middle East regional Bureau, would be good to coordinate with them to have the coming new in Arabic.

DY> Stay tuned for my blog post to explain more on this point.

As to the ISOC Membership page idea

I like this page by REI on their membership and it's benefits. The polaroid style shots are also neat

DY> Thanks for the example of what you liked, Glenn. We will definitely be changing/improving the pages about membership.

Great to see you getting engagement early on.

DY> Thank you, Christian - we really *need* your feedback/engagement to ensure that the new site works for our whole membership - and also works globally.

If and as when you want an independent but informal voluntary look
behind the scenes maybe your design crew at ATTCK could provide access
to the wordpress theme they've designed / using referenced at
https://beta.internetsociety.org/wp-content/themes/isoc and the other
resources?

DY> Thanks for the request. I'll let you know if we reach a point where that might be an option. Right now we are entirely focused on making the site operational.
