Dear Chapter Leaders,
The Selection Committee is pleased to announce the awardees for the Internet Society (ISOC) Fellowship to the 2017 World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-17). The selection committee met on Friday, July 14 and after careful consideration, chose four awardees from an impressive round of 51 applications representing 32 countries.
Each applicant was evaluated against 5 weighted criteria and received an average weighted score. Taking into consideration the importance of gender balance and regional representation in in the Fellowship Program, the Selection Committee chose four awardees from the highest ranking average weighted scores.
The four awardees in alphabetical order are:
John Acire, ISOC Uganda
Maureen Hernandez, ISOC Venezuela
Tawanda Maguze, ISOC Zimbabwe
Muhammed Shabbir, ISOC Pakistan
Given the high number of strong applications received and extent of regional diversity in the applicant pool, the Selection Committee recommends awarding a fifth Fellowship should the Internet Society Management determine that additional funds are available in the Fellowship Program.
This concludes the work of the Selection Committee. We congratulate the Awardees and wish them much success as members of ISOC’s Delegation to WTDC-17.
Kind regards,
Selection Committee
Otieno Antony, (Chair), Jane Coffin, Raquel Gatto, Richard Hill, Paola Pérez, Salam Yamout
