   Not commenting on the course Glenn, but just a few observations on the start 
of the article which mentions Poly Nazareno former (until end of 2015) CEO of 
PLDT (Smart Communiciations is the mobile subsidiary of PLDT) ...

   There are motherhood statements (e.g. PR) and there's reality. Clearly 
reliable (and offordable) connectivity is crucial for Internet-enabled 
applications. If the connectivity is so bad that even Uber and Grab don't always 
work reliably, that puts a damper on adoption of cloud apps and especially 
online financial transactions.

   In the case of Smart's money transfer service (dominated by Western Union 
here in the Philippines), i'd heard that internal coordination amongst the PLDT 
divisions wasn't exactly friction-free, thus the need to move physical cash 
around using motorbike couriers. Anecdotal, but a practice that would clearly be 
at odds with the very concept of e-money.
