Dear Chapter Leaders,

 

We are pleased to announce that Wikimedia Foundation is partnering on the Internet Society Chapterthon 2017: Digital schools.

 

Wikimedia Foundation is a global movement whose mission is to bring free educational content to the world, which supports the concept of the Chapterthon of this year. 

 

Wikimedia Foundation has volunteer Chapters and user groups across the globe who support their mission.

This is a great opportunity for both communities, who share the same values and goals, to work together, sharing knowledge and experiences while contributing to the development of education in the world.

 

For the Chapters that have registered for the Chapterthon: How to work together?

 

1.      Wikimedia Chapters are invited to contact an ISOC Chapter in their region and share a project idea (staff will connect you via email if needed)

2.      Both Chapters are required to discuss the project idea together and identify areas in which they can support each other

3.      Applications must be submitted by ISOC Chapter, adding Wikimedia Chapters as collaborators in the project. All funding will be transferred to ISOC Chapter who will be accountable to ISOC.

 

Applications for the Chapterthon are open from 1 August to 15 September

 

To guide you through this process, we are organizing two online info sessions on the 9th of August:

 

Session 1 – 12h UTC 

Session 2 – 16h UTC

 

Please join the session time that is more convenient to you. Sessions will be held in English, but questions can be asked in French or Spanish. 

 

For Chapters who have decided not to participate in the Chapterthon, but who still want to explore opportunities to collaborate with the local Wikimedia community please Jorge Vargas at jvargas at wikimedia.org .
