[Chapter-delegates] Beyond the Net projects have been nominated for WSIS Prizes 2017 - Please help voting

Ilda,

thanks a lot for this initiative.

Besides promoting the projects, not only within the ITU's WSIS bubble but
in more Internet-proper venues, we should be watchful of ways in which
votes for other andidates to these prizes are managed.

There is a lot of evidence, even if only anecdotal, that large
organizations, especially governments, order their employees to vote and to
promote voting, even through social media. The fact that some of these
top-down ordered votes go viral does not diminish the fact that good-faith
organizations have less of a chance in contests like this which are severly
gamed.

As many know, some of us have objected for many years playing not only in
this contest but also in general the "WSIS Forum" space beyond the strictly
defensive needs of ISOC and prefer to see ISOC take the initiative together
with other Internet-proper organizations in fields of interest and with our
own agenda, instead of legitmizing others' somewhat artificial or
manipulative claims to presence in the Internet space.

So, all that said, anyone who knows of manipulations should tell Ilda so we
know as an organization what we are actually facing.

(This is my personal view and not necessarily the Mexico Chapter's official
position, of which I am not a carrier any more.)
