It is really proud moment for Internet Society Nepal when leaders of the Society are recognized by the Government of Nepal. 
This week  ( 20th May), Government of Nepal appointed Internet Society Nepal President Babu Ram Aryal, Secretary Romkant Pandey, Life Member Er. Binod Dhakal (Also President of Federation of Computer Association Nepal) and Member Basant Ban (Also Managing Director of Sangrila Informatics Private Limited) have been appointed as member of National Information and Communication Technology Council for 4 years.The Council is chaired by the Prime Minister of Government of Nepal. Minister of Information and Communications and Minister for Science and Technology are Co-Chair of the Council. Other members of the Council are: Mr. Suresh Kumar Regmi (PCS Nepal), Pro.Dr. Shashidhar Ram Joshi (Institute of Engneering, Pulchowk), Dr. Manish Pokharel (Kathmandu University) and Mr. Nirmal Tamang (President of CAN Federation, Morang). Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal, Secretaries of Ministry of Finance, Home Affairs, Education, Information and Communication, Science and Technology, Industries and Urban Development are ex-officio members of the Council. Similarly, Chairman of Nepal Telecommunication Authority and Chair of Information Technology Committee of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries are also ex-officio members.The council has been formed to take overall lead on developing polices and coordinating the ICT based activities. Similarly, the council has authority to coordinate the stakeholders ICT and monitoring & evaluation of policies and programs on ICT Sector. Localization and standardization of ICT tools and study, research and development on ICT are also the area of the Council.
Thank you all for trusting us and allowing to represent ISOC mission at local level in Nepal. We also hope another level of collaboration in future with Government of Nepal as well.
