[Chapter-delegates] IANA Stewardship Transition reaches another milestone

Colleagues,

Earlier today, the IANA stewardship transition reached another milestone as Larry Strickling of the US Department of Commerce National Telecommunications & Information Administration shared that it intends to allow the IANA functions contract to expire as of October 1, barring any significant impediments. Reaching this milestone is a testament to the strength of the transition package developed with input from-and support by-the broad Internet community and submitted earlier this year to the NTIA. It is also a result of the sustained efforts by the operational communities to implement that package. There are still steps to be taken to complete the transition, and work will continue over the next several weeks.

We continue to strongly support the transition and the Internet Society remains fully engaged in seeing this most important transition to its finish.
