Chapter Application
A. Proposed name of the Chapter
Internet Society Afghanistan
B. Community of Interest the Chapter will to serve
The community of interest that the Internet Society Afghanistan shall serve is technologists, policymakers, and technology users, in private, public, civil and academia sectors, based in Afghanistan.
C. Purpose and Scope of the Chapter
The purpose of the Internet Society Afghanistan is to identify and bring together key Internet stakeholders under one platform to discuss the most pressing issues around Internet Governance, development, openness, expansion and accessibility. It shall be creating a platform for diverse Internet stakeholders to discuss policies, plans and programs. The Internet Society Afghanistan shall utilize social media, events, publications, conducting training workshops to achieve these goals.
In the first year, Internet Society Afghanistan shall be focusing on the following activities:
* Create and develop a strong, robust organization for Internet Society Afghanistan
* Launch National Internet Governance Forum of Afghanistan
* Initiate skills building training in partnership with ISOC HQ, other ISOC chapters in the neighborhood
* Actively participate in Internet Governance related meetings and events to ensure Afghan representation on the global level.

F. Membership
The Internet Society Afghanistan shall use following ways to develop and sustain membership and engage with members:
1. Creating an official Internet Society Afghanistan website (www.internetsociety.af): the chapter shall create a main website for its business. The website shall include a membership form, contact form, about section, press and media sections-including videos and photos of the events, press releases and coverage, events section with an option to register for participation, sponsor and partner information, resources section, and shall include features such as social media integration and search engine optimization;
2. Official listserv: The chapter shall create a listserv to share updates and discussions with the members;
3. Newsletter: We shall create an official chapter newsletter to share relevant information about the Internet, highlights and updates with the members, not only about the chapter activities, but also activities of the ISOC HQ, other chapters, the ICANN, IGF, WSIS and others;
4. Social media: The chapter shall create accounts on major social media channels such as Facebook (page and group), Twitter, Linkedin and Google+ to share information, updates, and involve members in its activities, receive feedback and opinion;
5. Events: The chapter shall organize regular conferences, seminars, workshops and meetings to engage with members.
6. SMS alert system: The chapter shall work on an SMS alert system integrated with the website so the members can subscribe for SMS updates.
G. List of requirements
We have checked with the Ministry of Communications and IT, there are no such rules and regulations in place that can affect our chapter activities. However, we might need to incorporate the chapter, in the future, with the Ministry of Justice or Ministry of Economy once the chapter has been approved by the Internet Society.
