Hi There,
I totally agree with Carlos, we should say something about this. I
live in a country where we do have a very similar law and unfortunately
it has been very bad for all of us. We do have hundred of websites
blocked by the government, we have people in prison because they have
said certain things in social networks (and I don't mean BAD things,
just comments against the current government). Now we are living
something that we call: self-censured, I mean, people can not (don't
want to) express freely in Internet (and in many other ways) because
this law can always fit to screw you up. Today most websites that are
against the government are blocked, many times with no reasons, there is
not any transparency when deciding what to block and what not.
The government has order to block so many websites that it even can
affect your daily basis, working remotely, sharing documents online and
much more. Is this the Internet we want?.
So, I believe we should say something: by mail, newspaper, social
networks and much more. I know ISOC Peru already did something and
Venezuela did too (Peru did for Venezuela, THANKS!!), this document
could be a template to work with this.
Regards,
Alejandro,
Venezuelan ISOC Chapter
