I was just watching the excellent new British tv series on the

Nevertheless a top-down process somewhat akin to the NMI :) While they
were eventually all annulled, the effect was to establish the concept and
practice of common law <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_law> - perhaps
analogous to the ms process :):)
