So do I.

At the Amsterdam based medialab Waag Society, were I work, we have started a workshop series on physical computing called Fabschool Kids (http://waag.org/en/project/fabschool <http://waag.org/en/project/fabschool>) and have experimented with CryptoKids workshops, teaching children about the merits of cryptography (http://waag.org/en/event/cryptokids <http://waag.org/en/event/cryptokids>). Children are very enthusiastic. Some materials are already on-line (in Dutch: http://fabschool.nl/ <http://fabschool.nl/>), and we are very interested in exploring collaborations and extensions.

Best regards,
Frank

For the next generation, programming would be an essential life skill (even in the developing world), and it is important to ensure they are exposed to alternative views of what programming is about.

A group called Makery set a challenge - for attendees (mostly teachers) to break out into teams and, in 40 minutes, produce a Rube Goldberg machine that somehow included computing in its kinetic process. Elements such as Lego WeDo motors, other sensors, even arduinos were supplied, and the Scratch programming language, popular with kids, suggested.
