Dear All,
I’d like to share some wonderful news with you.
As you might know, since December 2011, the European Commission, in close coordination with each EU Member State, decided to appoint *one* National Digital Champion per European (Union) Country. The Digital Champion’s role is to help their respective country and the European Commission to promote the benefits of an inclusive digital society. I’m very happy and honoured to inform you that ISOC-ES President, Andreu Veà Baró, was recently appointed as Spain’s Digital Champion. I have worked with Andreu on several projects in Spain and in Europe, including a very successful INET in Madrid, and I have always been impressed by his great contribution to the Internet Society’s values and mission. Andreu is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Internet Hall of Fame.
All to say, this appointment is a recognition of Andreu’s wonderful contribution to the development of an open Internet in Spain and in Europe and, in his current capacity as President of ISOC-ES, to the Internet Society mission and the key role of its Chapters and Members.
Please join me in congratulating Andreu on this important new mission.
Best Regards
Frederic
