Congratulations to Hans Peter, Gihan and Hiroshi!

Thanks to all of the candidates that stood in the election. Having had some experience in the past in looking for volunteers ready to stand in elections it's not an easy job to find good people that are motivated to give their time for free to help with the growth of the organisation.

So my thanks also go to both the Elections Committee and the Nominating Committee. Thankless jobs, but someone's got to do those jobs.

Kind regards,

Olivier

Dear Chapter Delegates

On behalf of the Internet Society’s Elections Committee, I wish to extend our appreciation and thanks to all of the nominees and final candidates for the Board of Trustees. We are honoured that such well-qualified individuals offered to serve on the Internet Society Board. The election results were certified today, 2 May, according to the elections timetable.

CHAPTERS

In the chapters election we had three candidates for two open Trustee seats. Hans Peter Dittler and Gihan Dias received the highest number of votes.

ORGANISATIONS

In the Organisation membership election there were three candidates for one Trustee seat. Hiroshi Esaki received the largest weighted vote count.

It may be of further interest that in the 2014 Election, 74 out of 100 Chapters voted, or 74% and 87 out of 150 Organisation Members voted, which makes it for

58% of participation.

We now move into the challenge period. Challenges can be lodged between now and 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 7 May 2014, by email to the President of the Internet Society, Kathy Brown at: brown at isoc.org. Any such challenges must be addressed to the President of the Society with a recital of the reasons for the challenge. The President, after consultation with the Chairs of the Nominations and Elections Committees and the members of the Board of Trustees, shall advise the author of the challenge of the Board's decision within 7 days following the end of the challenge period.

The Challenge Response Period ends on Monday, 12 May 2014, the date on which the results will be finalized and officially announced.
