Dear Blom
Thanks for sharing these with us. Truly we cannot have privacy on the
Internet if it is under surveillance 24/7,and is someone maybe snooping on
citizens. However, it also depend on local laws and regulatory mechanisms,
that seem to be different in countries and regions.
However, the current threats of terrorism, whom most are perceived to be
using the internet has brought a new dimension on data privacy.
Civil societies in developing countries like Kenya that is under constant
threats of terrorism attacks, lacking adequate technological capacity,
equipment as well laws and policies that would ddress the issues
comprehensively, are somehow disadvantaged and may not be in a position to
take such measures as have been taken by ISOC NL. Nevertheless dialogue and
sharing is vital and may help to propagate for a compromise on data and
security for the future.
