Thank you Ted.
Dear Kathy,
I would like to start by offering ISOC Lebanon and my personal support in
this challenging endeavor.
I am not sure via what process ISOC reached to the three priorities but we
concur that they are focused and timely. Priority #2 clearly targets the
rebuilding of trust in the Internet security and privacy standards and
infrastructure and that is commendable. But on the other hand, Priority #1
seems to offer little change from "business as usual" while ISOC should be
looking for creative solutions to overhaul the multi-stakeholder processes
and rebuild trust in the Internet governance model.
There is a saying in Lebanon "Trust is like a mirror, once its broken you
can never look at it the same again..." (or something like that)
The general public, governments and businesses will not look at the Internet
multi-stakeholder governance the same again. I believe that "Maintaining and
strengthening multi-stakeholder processes both globally and locally" is not
good enough. The multi-stakeholder relationship should be reengineered to an
enhanced multi-stakeholder model that is inclusive and representative in an
equitable, transparent and traceable manner (alas contractual).
Best regards,
Nabil
