thanks for the pointers Alex. As you can anticipate, we intended to address it in the next EU newsletter on Monday. And you’re right: this is a massive and complex paper and we need to assess the impact of it. We’re currently collecting some more intelligence and will report to you all.
Best Regards
Frederic

Hi, fellow ISOC Chapter Delegates,
in the last few weeks most of the discussion on Internet Governance seems to be taking place in other spaces, mostly the 1net list and others. We may find it useful for ISOC to stay abreast of those but also to search, as we frequently do, for insights and commonality of views among the chapter delegates.
So... two things today, a comment about Brazil internally from the New York Times, and a hefty, massive, complex resolution presented at the European Parliament (hopefully Frederick Donck and others can help us sort it out in terms of viability and impact), to start discussions:
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/04/opinion/nocera-brazil-is-abuzz-about-snowden.html?src=rechp
"Brazil all abuzz about Snowden", from the New York Times is superb. Not coming from the American right like others who disqualify Snowden, Greenwald and the whole setup, it does point to Greenwald's manipulations of Brazil (where he resides, etc.)
I wrote someone months ago that Greenwald was paying royally for his welcome - glad to see at least another view that agrees with that interpretation.
Not to deny there is larger trouble out there, but this particularly pernicious manipulation should not escape us; nor the opportunity to point it out.
Also don't miss the European Parliament's massive resolution in http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getDoc.do?pubRef=-%2F%2FEP%2F%2FNONSGML%2BCOMPARL%2BPE-526.085%2B02%2BDOC%2BPDF%2BV0%2F%2FEN or shortened http://ow.ly/sozW0
