Due to local laws, applying through the ISOC portal does not provide
sufficient legal consent to become a member of our Chapter, so we
basically do all our membership applications either digitally signed
(using a govt assigned ID-card) or on paper. Once approved, a new
member's info is added to the ISOC portal by me. If that member
already has a global ID, they will be matched automatically based on
the email address they provided to us when they applied to become a
member. If the member does not have a global ID, a new account will be
created for them.
So based on our practices, yes. The annoying part is copying details
from our system to ISOC's.
