The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations are planned for 19-23 May 2014 in Arlington, VA, USA. The U.S. and EU delegations are holding stakeholder meetings in parallel with the negotiations. See http://www.ustr.gov/ttip/round-information .

The TTIP in the past has been used by intellectual property holders to attempt to impose onerous, technically inept requirements on ISP’s in an attempt to protect their intellectual property. While the protection of intellectual property is important, doing so at the expense of the Internet is not a desirable result.

While I expect ISOC-DC folks to participate, as it is in our backyard, it would be great if folks from the EU who happen to be in DC that week could also be there to let their negotiators know the importance of keeping the Internet technically sound.
