[Chapter-delegates] Notification to Chapters and AC on Connect

Dear Chapter Delegates and Advisory Council Members,


The Internet Society is close to launching Connect, our community engagement platform. We are truly excited at the opportunities for collaboration Connect will bring to our organization. At this time we want to share with you our vision and our progress for this long awaited capability.


Our goal is to enable the Internet Society to be the leading place where you can easily find and engage the most amazing people, projects and discussions about the open and global Internet.


Our goal is to have a place where all members can work together in new and innovative ways on issues and projects that both inspire and motivate.


Our goal is to to empower our members to collaborate on cross-boundary issues and act both locally and globally .


Connect has been developed for our community with significant input over the past two years and it will continue to be shaped by you. You, the members, provide the content, the questions, the issues and the ideas that will make this system the nerve center of the Internet Society.


And we need your regular feedback to assure the systems improves in response to your needs. Navigation ease, content development and access, functions and usability will be continuously improved based on the information you share about your Connect experience.


Here is some additional information: CONNECT is powered by Higher Logic (http://www.higherlogic.com<http://www.higherlogic.com/>) and integrated with our membership database to provide our members easy and secure access.

As of today:

  *   The membership database is being exported to Connect daily.  The data are being scrubbed;
  *   A test group of users has been using the issue forum area for the WTDC work including chapter members and the Advisory Council co-chairs;
  *   A number of features including SSO, access via email, micro sites and others are under test;
  *   There is on-going development of initial content to encourage early use and value

We are still interested in additional volunteers to assist with pre-launch testing and content development.  If you are interested in learning more how to participate, please contact us at isoconnect at isoc.org


We expect to go live with full capability for all staff and members by mid May.

There has been excellent feedback and encouragement from chapter leaders and staff, which continues to guide our configuration and preparations.  Initial input has already led to feature and configuration updates.

Thanks to all who have given of their time to help implement Connect.   Please join together in the coming weeks, months and years to make Connect the place where the the ISOC communities connect, collaborate and act.
