Thank you Alejandro for all the clarification and useful information…Great work! It is a noble mission to explain and protect the open structure of the Internet.

I’ll follow the work of the coalition.

Best regards,

Victor Ndonnang.

Hi,

to complete the information (I was on a mobile device earlier):

1. Sivasubramanian Muthusamy, whom we usually call Siva, has been an active chapter leader for several years now, from his post as Chair of ISOC Chennai (India) and other activities.

2. The Dynamic Coalition on Core Internet Values is a grouping under the umbrella of the IGF that Siva and I started and are keeping active. We will have a session again this IGF. Past sessions have been wonderfully informative and quite productive.

I emphatically recommend watching the video in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Je36zEtQSvk for the session in Baku in 2012, where Lynn St Amour explains the history and we had excellent contributions by Vint Cerf and others. History and foundations of the Dynamic Coalition are also covered in a brief note in http://www.elon.edu/e-web/predictions/igf_2010/core_values_of_Internet.xhtml

And even more emphatically I recommend the previous year's video, i.e. 2011, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vrRGwSKl3A (the sound has echo at the very beginning, then it is stable.) Here you get an unparallelled lesson on Internet philosphy and technology, with a historical view as well, from Vint Cerf and Scott Bradner. Some of you may want to have your new chapter members watch it as well. Vint and Scott are brilliant here.

For 2013 as Siva has said, he is organizing a conversation among stakeholders and we are exploring substantial matters looking forward. You will soon receive a poll asking you in very simple terms what has been good for Internet core values in the last year and what has been bad.

The values, if you are wondering, are Interoperability, Openness, End-to-End, and the like. Watch the video with Vint and Scott for more - nowhere are they explained better. (Skip the introduction if you wish and go to minute 8'20 of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vrRGwSKl3A for Vint and Scott.)

Yours,

Alejandro Pisanty

"This is as an invitation to all Chapter Leaders ...."
How to determine the authenticity of this mail from a gmail account, and signed by a simple name: Sivasubramanian M, without any organization or compagny name.
I guess that, Sivasubramanian is from ISOC staff or from an ISOC Chapter to be able to use this mailling list.
Any clarifications from the floor before we start comment out this interesting topic?

Hello

This

 is

as an invitation to all Chapter Leaders to join the IGF Dynamic Coalition on Core Internet Values. IGF Dynamic Coalitions work during and between IGFs, so this invitation is open to both the regular participants of the IGF a

 s well as

to all those who are committed to Free and Open Internet, but do not attend the IGF.

This Dynamic Coalition began its work as a Workshop organized during the IGF Sharm el Sheikh chaired by the Internet Society President Lynn St.Amour.

http://coreinternetvalues.org/?p=1324

Recognizing the importance of the theme of preserving Core Internet Values, it was decided to organize a Dynamic Coalition to continue the work during and between the IGFs. The first meeting was held at IGF Vilnius, Lithuania:

http://coreinternetvalues.org/?p=1334

The second IGF Meeting of the Dynamic Colation on Core Internet Values was held during the Sixth Annual Meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (27 -30 September 2011) at the United Nations Office in Naiorbi, Nairobi, Kenya:

http://coreinternetvalues.org/?p=1630

The third meeting of the Dynamic Coalition on Core Internet Values was held at the IGF Baku, Azerbaijan, on Nov 8, 2012:

http://coreinternetvalues.org/?p=1650

One of the possible ways by which the activity could proceed further is by a "Conversation on Core Internet Values" as an ongoing informal discussion between stakeholders. Under this theme, or by any other name, we could discuss the most recent developments in Internet Governance and where inputs are required to policy makers, we will try to reach out to them through the IGF and through other possible ways.

Chapter Leaders come from different stakeholder groups as individuals, so invited to participate

in this Dynamic Coalition and in this conversation

as individuals, rather than representing the views of the Chapter.

Please feel free to forward excepts from this message to your friends and colleagues in other circles known for their commitment to Internet.

Thank you
