I agree. It would be wise for ISOC to now recognise that the formation
process of the Chapter Advisory Council should be allowed to happen
without the shadow of this letter hanging over the community and
withdraw it whilst it gets established.

In the interim chapters can think about the future role of individuals
in their chapter. Whether they sign up at ISOC as supporters or directly
at the chapter. ISOC established its new ByLaws without listening to the
warnings that the status and role of individuals at ISOC was being
completely removed.

Sending us all a letter that half imposes some retrospective  one sided
obligations on chapters after the event doesn't solve anything. To be
brutal it doesn't read as being honest about what ISOC wants to achieve
with its chapters.  If ISOC wants chapters to be vehicles for individual
engagement in the cleaned up mission focussed new ISOC then let's see a
proposal to work together on that idea.
