The InterPlanetary Networking Special Interest Group (a Chapter in
Formation-- hopefully very soon to be the InterPlanetary Networking Chapter
of the Internet Society) will be hosting a one-day conference entitled
"Space Technology Innovation: Enabling Exploration Above—Improving Life
Below" at Google HQ in Mountain View, California, on January 24th, 2014,
from 8:30 a.m. through 5 p.m. A beer and wine reception will follow the
scheduled speakers, concluding at 7 p.m. For more information, go to:
www.ipnsig.org.
We will have speakers ranging from Vint Cerf (one of the "Fathers of the
Internet") to David Brin (best selling and award-winning science fiction
author). We will have several teams of speakers from NASA talking about
experiments and deployments of Delay & Disruption Tolerant Networking
(DTN); DTN researchers from the EU; the Program Manager for Google's
Project Loon; the founder of Teachers without Borders, the Executive
Director of Explore Mars, the Founder of Campus Party, and more! Learn
about how DTN is enabling the exploration of space and providing solutions
to constrained network environments right here on earth.
If you can't make the event in person-- no worries! It will be webcast on
LiveStream and available for video on demand viewing.
We hope to be in a position to formally announce the establishment of the
InterPlanetary Networking Chapter of the Internet Society at this event.
Best regards,
Mike Snell
President, San Francisco Bay Area Chapter
Secretary/Treasurer, IPNSIG
